Highland Folk Museum

Learn how our Scottish Highland ancestors lived with a visit to The Highland Folk Museum. Find out about their domestic and working conditions from 1700s to the present day. See how they dressed and built their homes a this award winning visitor attraction.

Harris Tweed Shop

Offering a selection of some of the finest tweeds in the world in beautifully finished garments for both men and ladies, or you can purchase their tweeds in cut lengths by the meter. Located on the Main Street , Newtonmore in the spectacular Cairngorms National Park.

Ruthven Barracks

Built between 1719 and 1721 on a prominent mound that had once been the location of a medieval castle of the Comyns and later the Gordons. Ruthven was one of four infantry barracks built across the Highlands by George II’s government following the failed 1715 Jacobite Rising. Located in the beautiful Speyvalley and surrounded by mountains.



Clan Macpherson Museum

See their displays of historical items from Clan Macpherson and Scottish history. Hear all about the famous men and women of the Clan, read about the mutinies, see the weapons used and the chanter sent down from the heavens. Entry is free although donations are appreciated. Open 1 April – 31 Oct.

The Wildcat Experience

Looking for a fun day out with the children? This is something the whole family can take part in and enjoy. All you have to do is find the Scottish Wildcat! More than 100 models of the Scottish Wildcat have been sited all around Newtonmore, in the Cairngorms National Park. Search for them in gardens, on roofs and up trees! There are prizes to be won depending on how many you can track down. This is a great day out in the fresh air and in spectacular surroundings.



Newtonmore Golf Club

This 18 hole Speyside golf course is an ideal 18 hole course for all Golfing abilities, providing easy going parkland golf with spectacular mountain scenery all around. This golf club warmly invites visitors, groups and golf societies to share a truly wonderful Highland Golf experience. The clubhouse also enjoys the great scenery and has excellent bar and catering facilities.

Located on the Main Street, Newtonmore in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park is their studio/gallery where fantastic glass courses are run, plus you can see their wonderful displays of original art and craft work all produced locally. Fishing & Angling

The Badenoch Angling Association controls fishing on the River Spey from the mouth of the River Tromie to the Spey Dam at Laggan.  There is also fishing on the A86 side of Loch Laggan and part of Loch Ericht.
